Scott Haven, Owner

Scott Haven is a native Californian who has been
actively involved in the Southern Californian diving
community since 1976. Mr. Haven was originally scuba
certified with the National Association of Underwater
Instructors (NAUI) and transferred over to PADI in 1996.
Prior to opening Haven's Reef in April 2004, Mr. Haven
was a senior staff instructor at Malibu Divers. He is a
certified equipment specialist, trained to repair scuba
diving equipment to manufacturers' specifications. He is
also a TDI Nitrox Gas Blender, certified to mix enriched
air nitrox (EANx) to blends up to 40% oxygen. Mr. Haven
has numerous PADI Specialty Instructor Training
distinctions including night, wreck, deep, enriched air
nitrox, navigation, equipment, and dry suit. He is an
Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor, an EFR Care
for Children Instructor, and a DAN Oxygen and Hazardous
Marine Life Instructor. Mr. Haven has led dives around
the world in such locales as Kenya, Tahiti, Australia,
Indonesia, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean. Mr.
Haven is married and has two boys, a seven year old who
is a scuba diver in training and a brilliant high school
junior whose interests are found in science and
literature. His wife, Nkem, runs a private practice in
classical homeopathy. Mr. Haven has also enjoyed a
long career in the entertainment business as
an actor on stage, film, and television. |

OW certified in ’94 by SSI in Tucson, Arizona.
I changed over to PADI with my Rescue Diver
Certification in October ’01. I worked as travel
coordinator and manager for Desert Divers in Tucson,
Arizona and have also worked as boat crew on El Duque in
San Carlos, Mexico. In July of ’06, I earned my
PADI Instructor rating and have since continued on to
become an IDC Staff Instructor. I am an authorized
Scubapro, Aqualung, and Apex technician. I hold
PADI specialties in Nitrox, Deep, Equipment specialist,
Oxygen First Aid, and Drysuit Diving. I am a
Specialty Instructor for Nitrox, Deep, Equipment
Specialist, Suunto Computer Assisted Diving, Night
Diving, Underwater Navigator, and California Lobster
Hunter. I also teach Emergency First Response
including CPR, AED, and First Aid for Infant, Child, and
Adult. I also teach DAN's classes for Emergency
Oxygen Provider and Hazardous Marine Life

OW certified in Sept. ‘95 by PADI in Oahu, Hawaii.
Sept. of ‘96, while stationed in Hawaii on submarines, I
became a U.S. Navy Diver (NEC 5345) and in February of
’97 became a U.S. Navy Diving Operations Supervisor.
I earned my PADI Instructor rating in February of ’07
and hold a Master Scuba Diver Trainer Instructor rating.
I have worked as a regulator repair technician and boat
crew for Desert Divers in Tucson, Arizona for 4 years
and I am an authorized Scubapro, Dacor, Aqualung, and
Apex technician. I hold a PADI Master Scuba Diver
certification and specialist certifications in
Equipment, Deep, Nitrox, Boat, and PPB. I am an
Instructor for Equipment Specialist, Wreck Diver, Peak
Performance Buoyancy, Deep, Drysuit, Nitrox, Suunto
Computer Asst. Diving, and Search & Recovery. I am
also a DSAT TEC DEEP diver. I also hold TDI
certifications in Nitrox and Gas Blender Service Tech.
I have a BSc in Electrical Engineering and a BSc in
Mathematics from University of Arizona, a MSc in Applied
Physics from California Institute of Technology, and I
am currently working on my PhD in Applied Physics at the
California Institute of Technology.
